FOLSOM, Calif., April 22, 2002 -- There should be enough power to go around this summer in California, but consumer conservation will still be a critical piece of the California Independent System Operator's (ISO) grid management strategy.

The ISO's recently released its "Summer Assessment 2002" detailing the best case, middle case, and worst case scenarios for this summer's supply and demand for power. It is available as an Adobe Acrobat PDF document at http://www.caiso.com/docs/2002/04/19/2002041917130017460.pdf.

The report shows that since January of 2001, there has been a net increase in available generation of more than 4,300 megawatts in California. Combined with a solid year for hydroelectric production and moderate demand predictions, there should be enough power available to meet California's needs this summer.
