First Solar to buy proposed 177 MW solar plant

4 November 2009-- Solar developer Ausra is selling a planned 177 MW solar project to First Solar. Ausra also said it is withdrawing from a signed power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Energy (PG&E) for the potential output from the Carrizo Energy Solar Farm.

Ausra said in a statement the transaction is part of the company's change in focus to serve the power and process steam markets as a supplier of large-scale solar steam generators instead of developing solar projects.

Ausra and PG&E signed the PPA in 2007.
