29 December 2004 - Siemens Power Generation (PG) is to supply npower renewables, a subsidiary of RWE npower plc., with 40 wind turbines, in the first considerable order for its new wind power division.

The new wind power division of Siemens PG will deliver 40 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.3 MW and a rotor diameter of 82.4 metres, for the Farr Wind Farm, which will be built 10 km south of Inverness in Northern Scotland.

The total order value for the 92 MW turnkey project is €90m and it is scheduled to go online in spring of 2006. With regard to installed capacity, it will be npower renewables' largest wind farm. The company currently operates four wind farms in Scotland, with a total combined capacity of more than 95 MW.

Klaus Voges, president of Siemens PG, said: "This first considerable order for our new wind power division shows that we have found the right partner to further develop this business. Furthermore, it underlines our strong market position in the growing market for wind power systems in the United Kingdom."
